In its latest show of endorsing controversial genetically modified organisms (GMOs), Vietnam is set to allow three foreign companies to plant their GMO corn varieties on a small scale even before they have approval to sell the seeds here.
Dekalb Vietnam, which operates under US mega-corporation Monsanto, Pioneer Hi-Bred Vietnam under the US’s Dupont, and Syngenta of Switzerland, were licensed to carry out lab research and tests on the seeds here in 2011.

Roy J. Nirschel's abrupt departure as president of Roger Williams University last summer carried the signature of an awkward parting of ways between a campus leader and his board. The university's trustees used a curt campuswide e-mail to declare the immediate end of Mr. Nirschel's tenure, stating no plans to hold so much as a farewell reception for a president in his ninth year.
The details of the April 2010 complaint, which was obtained by The Chronicle and corroborated in part by former employees, suggest that Mr. Nirschel's actions had long-term implications for Roger Williams, where donors looked askance at the president's perceived personal failings, and jaded administrators and staff members departed or operated in fear of reprisals. While university trustees who received the complaint ultimately responded by hiring an independent law firm to investigate the charges, the details of the complaint give rise to questions about whether board members were oblivious or willfully ignorant of concerns that were widely shared on campus and the subject of curiosity in Bristol, R.I., and beyond.

Although the average age at which current United States retirees say they stopped working is 61, up from 59 in 2003 and 57 in 1993, a January Gallup poll of 1,929 members of that generation found that 49 percent didn't expect to retire until age 66 or older. One respondent in 10 expected never to clock out for good — assuming they had the choice.

Tình trạng học sinh (HS) bỏ học ngày càng nhiều tạo nên một lực lượng lao động không nghề nghiệp, khả năng kiếm sống khó. Đây chính là một trong những nguyên nhân dẫn đến tình trạng lao động nước ta dồi dào, nhưng chất lượng thấp.
Mục tiêu giáo dục phổ thông đặt ra rất toàn diện. Tuy nhiên, nhiều trường đã đặt nặng trọng tâm ở khâu hoàn thiện học vấn phổ thông, tiếp tục học ĐH, CĐ. Một số cán bộ quản lý trường THPT mà chúng tôi tiếp xúc cho rằng quan trọng nhất ở cấp THPT là hoàn thiện học vấn phổ thông, sau đó HS sẽ đi ra nhiều "cửa": thứ nhất là ĐH, thứ hai là CĐ, thứ ba là TC hoặc học nghề, và "cửa" cuối cùng mới là đi vào cuộc sống lao động.
